Graduate Developer – Permanent – Liverpool
Yodel are looking for self-motivated, technical individuals who are interested in learning all aspects of the IT industry, with specific emphasis on the development and support of Yodels internal IT applications. The role of a Graduate Developer will allow an individual to join a development team and experience all aspects of development and applications support, looking at both Yodel’s current systems and also the new systems which are being developed as part of our major transformation programme.
Graduate Developer Responsibilities:
Develop a detailed knowledge of existing systems and technologies, such as databases, middleware and web based technologies in order to provide support and maintenance of them.
Develop a working knowledge of IT processes, such as the software development lifecycle and the service management process in Yodel.
Develop programming skills in a number of technologies to be able to support the delivery of changes across both new and existing platforms.
Gain practical experience in engineering best practice methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile.
Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Shows ability to work with others and build relationships with peers and other teams.
Continually looking to improve skills and work to develop within Yodel.
Build effective relationships with other areas of Yodel IT and always represents the Yodel development team in a positive light.
Graduate Developer Skills and Experience:
A Graduate Developer needs to be able to demonstrate a proven background in programming.
Experience of working as part of a project team.
Good planning and organisational skills.
Ability to liaise effectively with end users and other teams within an IT function.
Some knowledge and experience of development tools.
Experience of agile working practices such as Scrum or Kanban.
Experience of full development lifecycle using a Waterfall approach.
Knowledge of unit and integration testing.
Knowledge of database technologies.
Knowledge of Web Based technologies.
Qualifications in programming languages would be beneficial
