Transport Planning Manager (Network Optimisation) – Wednesbury (6 Month Interim FTC)
Our trailers travel up to 650,000 miles a week, at the heart of our operation are our Transport Planning team who ensure every mile is cost efficient, tactically planned and maximises the use of our assets. We’re looking for someone like you, an experienced commercially focussed Transport Planning / Network Optimisation Specialist to join us and deliver work streams focussed on the execution of strategic and tactical planning efficiencies in this team.
Salary – Competitive plus car allowance.
Shifts – Working Mon-Fri between the hours of 8am-6pm.
About this fantastic Transport Planning Manager opportunity:
Yodel delivers 155 million parcels a year, generating revenues in excess of £400m. We’re a big parcel business with ambitious plans to transform and become even bigger. This is an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable Senior Transport Planning specialist to join our transport planning Operation in Wednesbury on a career enhancing 6 month FTC.
Did you know that Yodel have over 60 sites across the UK, three of which are national Sort and Transport Hubs based in Shaw, Hatfield and one here in Wednesbury.
You’ll report directly into the Head of Transport Planning and work closely with our Director of Operational Planning to support and deliver a joint vision for developing a best in class transport planning operation. You’ll support the team of three Transport Planners who are responsible for the optimum planning and execution of up to 5000 schedules a week, ensuring SLA’s are maintained for client collections back into our Sort Hubs and Trunks from our Sort Hubs into one of our 48 Service Centres. 70% of our schedules are core and 30% variable, you’ll be working alongside our commercial teams and operation to ensure planning cycles are in place and effectively executed.
What you’ll be doing:
*Execution of strategic and tactical planning with our the Control Tower operation based in Hatfield.
*Ensuring agreed service levels are maintained across the network.
*Continually looking for opportunities for cost savings and ensuring our network is more efficient, identifying and implementing continuous improvement.
*Work alongside the senior leadership team to drive forward the Transport Planning function, using your knowledge and expertise to identify opportunities to improve and optimise our planning processes.
*You'll have extensive experience and a working knowledge gained in transport planning operations.
*Knowledge of transport management systems and route optimisation packages.
*Knowledge of Planning Systems such as GTS, ESP, Service Now and Microlise.
*Paragon Planning experience would be advantageous but not essential.
